Accelerated Learning Phase

Following the 10 one hour sessions, of the Cellfield Intervention, it is imperative to consolidate the improvements gained through practice and appropriate follow on support.

Children who learn to remember words as designs rather than a series of symbols representing sounds often can’t decode unfamiliar words. Cellfield improves decoding skills significantly in most cases.

These skills must be methodically practiced and adequately supervised to prevent children slipping back into the habit of guessing or skipping words.  Therefore follow on reading support is an essential component of Cellfield intervention. These retain and accelerate the rate of reading progress.

There needs to be:

•	Consolidation of new skills to ensure that old habits to not creep back in.
•	A more complete knowledge of the orthographics, phonology & morphology of our language.
•	There should be a graduated progression into the multi-syllabic words.
